Captain’s Leadership Course
The Pine School is proud to offer a dedicated Leadership Training Program for student-athletes using the highly respected Team Captain’s Leadership Manual by Jeff Janssen. This 10-session course is designed to develop the character, confidence, and communication skills of emerging and current team leaders.
Through engaging discussions and practical activities, students explore key leadership principles such as leading by example, building team culture, motivating teammates, handling adversity, and effective communication. The course empowers student-athletes to lead with integrity both on and off the field, while reinforcing the school’s core values of respect, responsibility, and resilience.
Athletic Internship Program
The Pine School’s Athletic Internship Program offers real world experience in sports administration. We believe that education through athletics extends far beyond the playing field. One of the most exciting examples of this philosophy is our Athletic Intern Program, a unique opportunity for high school students to gain hands-on experience in sports administration and event management.
Launched as part of our commitment to offering diverse athletic learning experiences, the program allows students to step into the operational side of athletics, learning what it takes to make game days and events run smoothly.
Real responsibilities and real impact. Athletic Interns work directly with the Athletic Department staff to support game-day logistics, including field and facility setup, equipment management, scoreboard operations, and more. They play an essential role in creating a professional and organized environment for our teams, visiting schools, and spectators.
Flexible seasonal commitment. Students select one athletic season (fall, winter, or spring) to serve as their internship window. During that time, they are expected to attend at least 70% of that season’s home contests, giving them consistent, meaningful engagement without overwhelming their academic schedule.
Earning credit and giving back. While most responsibilities take place after school on campus, interns who assist with events or duties outside of the regular school day (8:00 AM–3:30 PM) are eligible to earn community service hours, making this program a great fit for students looking to meet service requirements while building real-world skills.
The Athletic Intern Program teaches invaluable life skills including leadership, accountability, time management, and communication in an environment that’s fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply rewarding. Whether a student is passionate about sports, interested in a career in athletics, or simply wants to contribute meaningfully to our school community, this program delivers a behind the scenes experience few high schoolers get.
